The state Department of Fish and Wildlife on Thursday said it will soon begin trapping bears in the South Lake Tahoe area to tag the animals and collect evidence for genetic analysis.

It has received more than 112,000 calls from members of the public and there are now more than 4,600 animals in RSPCA care.A spokesperson for the charity said: ‘Although much of the country is in lockdown, sadly there are still thousands of animals who need our help, including abandoned pets.
But on the on the ground, animal activists across the country are facing the problem of abandonment of pets which has increased rapidly during the lockdown.It is illogical to abandon a dog especially at a time when animals can be great companions for people who are in quarantine," she adds.
It's believed the Bronx tiger got sick from a human, and as of March 25, at least two dogs in Hong Kong had tested positive for the coronavirus after close human contacts also did, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.
